About Bologna
How to order a taxi in Bologna? 🚕
You can order a taxi by calling one of these numbers: +39 051 372727, +39 051 45 90. We recommend specifying what luggage you have and whether you want to pay by card. Alternatively, it's possible to use a TaxiClick or itTaxi app. For advance booking it’s necessary to have an Italian phone number, so if you don’t have it, feel free to contact us for help (it's best to book two days in advance). Here's also a map of all the taxi ranks.
What’s the best way to reach the center from the airport? ✈️
In short, we recommend taking a taxi from an official line outside the airport. A taxi ride from the airtport to the center of Bologna should cost about €25. You can find about other ways to reach the center here.
What is the best period to visit Bologna? 🌞
Our favorite seasons in the city are late spring and early fall when the weather is mild. However, be aware of some international fairs that will make prices for accommodation and services higher and the city streets more crowded.
Is it necessary to reserve a table in a restaurant? 🍴
We recommend booking a table in high season, especially during weekends, though some restaurants won't take them.
How to arrive to Santuario Madonna di San Luca? ⛪
To reach the famous church on top of the hill, you can either take the San Luca Express train or arrive with a bus at the Meloncello stop and then walk for about 30 minutes. Please note that it's an uphill road with a lot of steps.
How does public transport work? 🚍🚏
A single urban bus ticket in Bologna costs €1.50 and can be used on more than one ride, but within 75 minutes. A daily pass for 24 hours is €6 and the CITY PASS for 10 rides is €14. All tickets can be bought in most Tabaccheria shops and must be validated each time after boarding. Usually, it's also possible to buy single tickets directly on the bus with coins for €2 or via contactless payment by card for €1.50 (in this case, you won't receive a ticket, but remember to tap the card on every bus).
How to travel from Bologna to Florence, Venice, Milan and other cities? 🚊
Bologna is well-connected to many cities thanks to the local railwork network. You can buy train tickets on the Trenitalia or Italo website or directly at the train station. We recommend doing so in advance, as prices for fast trains rise closer to the date. The tickets for regional trains have lower and fixed prices, but these trains are slower and often require stopovers. Alternatively, it's also possible to travel between major cities by bus.
